To assist us in better understanding the needs and concerns of the fishing industry, the CNSOER has established a Fisheries Advisory Committee (FAC).
The purpose of the FAC is to facilitate a two-way dialogue between the CNSOER and representatives of the commercial fishing industry on matters that fall within the regulatory authority, and scope of responsibility, of the CNSOER.
To this extent, the FAC serves as a mechanism to put forward advice and recommendations with respect to the CNSOER’s regulatory activities, to allow both parties to learn about, meet, discuss and address issues faced by the offshore energy and fishing industries co-existing within the same ocean environment. The CNSOER is committed to considering advice provided by FAC members in the fulfilment of its regulatory mandate.
FAC members provide advice and suggestions to us for consideration in such things as activity authorization applications, and input into our guidelines. Committee members are provided with notice of all Environmental Assessments, Strategic Environmental Assessments and Call For Bids and are invited to submit comments to us for consideration during the review process.
Here is a list of Fisheries Advisory Committee organizations, as of June 2025:
