Updated Code of Practice “Fatigue Management in the Atlantic Canada Offshore Petroleum Industry, 2025"

The updated Code of Practice “Fatigue Management in the Atlantic Canada Offshore Petroleum Industry, 2025 (CoP-FM)" has been published. The previously issued Safety Directive on the topic of fatigue management is no longer necessary and has been withdrawn.

The CoP-FM describes a reasonable approach to managing the hazard of fatigue for workplaces in the Nova Scotia offshore area and includes work rotations and days of rest considerations. This update to the CoP-FM makes the document a jointly- recognized Code of Practice in the Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador offshore areas and addresses recent changes to the CNSOER’s regulatory framework and organization name.

The CoP-FM is considered a Code of Practice under sections 210.016 and 210.021 of the Accord Act, and the CNSOER’s Chief Safety Officer requires Operators and Employers to adopt this Code of Practice in their workplaces during authorized activities.

The CoP-FM document can be found on the CNSOER website under the Codes of Practice tab of our Legislation and Regulatory Instruments web page
