Access to Information & Privacy

We are responsible for complying with the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Our Access to Information and Privacy Coordinator is responsible for processing requests and posting summaries of completed Access to Information and Privacy requests.

How to make an Access to Information and Privacy Request

Access to Information and Privacy requests can be made online using the Government of Canada’s Access to Information and Privacy Online Request Service. Click here to make an online request

You may also send an Access to Information and Privacy request by regular mail:

Please include a letter with the request or you may use one of the following forms:

Be sure to include any necessary documents, such as consent or the $5.00 application fee, for a request under the Access to Information Act. 

Please note: Each request made under the Access to Information Act must be accompanied by an application fee of $5.00, cheque or money order made payable to the Receiver General for Canada.

Access to Information Act Requests 

The Access to Information Act gives every Canadian citizen, individuals who live in Canada, or corporations in Canada the right to request access to information contained in federal government records that are not of a personal nature. This also applies to organizations that fall under Schedule I of the Access to Information Act, including the CNSOER.

Privacy Act Requests 

The purpose of the Privacy Act is to protect the privacy of individuals with respect to their personal information. The Act controls the federal governments collection, retention, use, and disclosure of personal information.

Under the Privacy Act, we are required to submit an annual report to the Government of Canada on our management of requests received. Our submissions to meet this requirement are provided below.
