Please note that the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) became the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator (CNSOER) on January 31, 2025. Any news releases, information notices, feature articles, incident bulletins, and announcements completed prior to this date will reference the CNSOPB.
The CNSOPB has become the CNSOER
Effective January 31, 2025, the Accord Acts were amended to expand our mandate to include offshore renewable energy. Our name is now the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator (CNSOER).
Notice of CNSOPB and C-NLOPB Review of Physical Environmental Guideline
In preparation for the implementation of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Area Petroleum Operations Framework Regulations, SOR/2024-25 and the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Area Petroleum Operations Framework Regulations, SOR/2024-26 (the Framework Regulations), the C-NLOPB and the CNSOPB (the Regulators) conducted a detailed review of the Physical Environmental Guideline (PEG).

In consideration of the Canada-Nova Scotia Petroleum Operations Framework Regulations coming into force on October 28, 2024, the CNSOPB and the C-NLOPB have reviewed and updated several guidelines with minor changes.
